Frequently asked questions

It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion. As a small business, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality and integrity, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence.

Who do I work with?

I specialize in working with boys and men of all ages who are navigating trauma, anxiety, and the emotional weight that often goes unspoken. This includes adolescents, young adults, and adult men — whether they're dealing with past experiences, current stress, or simply feeling stuck in patterns they can't quite name.

Ive never been to therapy before, what should I expect?

That's completely okay — many of my clients are first-timers. Our first session is a conversation, not an assessment. We'll talk about what's been going on for you, what you're hoping to get out of therapy, and whether we feel like a good fit. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with, and nothing you say will surprise me.

How do I know if I need therapy?

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Common reasons men seek support include persistent worry or stress, difficulty managing anger or emotions, feeling disconnected from relationships, replaying difficult experiences, low motivation, or just a sense that something's off. If you're asking the question, that curiosity is usually enough to start.

Do I have to talk about my childhood or past traumas?

No. We go at your pace. While understanding past experiences can be helpful, therapy doesn't require digging up everything at once — or ever, if that's not where you want to go. Many clients find it most useful to start with what's happening right now and let context emerge naturally over time.

Do you offer in-person and virtual sessions?

Yes. I offer both in-person sessions at my [city] office and secure video sessions. Many clients appreciate the flexibility of online therapy — it removes the commute and can make it easier to fit sessions into a busy schedule. Both formats are equally effective.

What are your fees, and do you take insurance?

My fees are $200 per session and $250 for couples/family session. I am in-network with Aetna Insurance. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill (a receipt you submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement). I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients with financial constraints — please ask.

Is what I say in therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything you share stays between us. There are narrow legal exceptions — primarily if there is an immediate risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, or in cases of child abuse reporting requirements — and I'll explain these clearly at the start of our work together. Outside of those circumstances, your privacy is fully protected.
